Panormo is a seaside village located in the center of the northern road, 22 km east of Rethymnon and 55 west of Heraklion, having approximately 400 residents.
The village and the surrounding area has many attractions to visit. One of the most important is the early Christian basilica of Agia Sophia. Property of the early Christian period (5th century), excavated in 1948 and is the largest Christian basilica on Crete.
Lovers of nature will admire the landscape of Geropotamou forming a beautiful lake and a wonderful picturesque beach just below the highway bridge.
